The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended a wanted terrorist on Friday in Bihar, linked to a grenade attack on a temple in Amritsar.
According to an official statement, the suspect, identified as Sharanjeet Kumar, also known as Sunny, hails from Bhaini Bangar village in Punjab's Gurdaspur district.
The statement revealed that Sharanjeet was actively involved in both planning and executing the grenade attack that occurred on the night of March 14 at a temple located on Sher Shah Road in Amritsar.
The NIA disclosed that the grenade was thrown by two individuals, Gursidik Singh and Vishal Gill, who were operating under the directives of their handlers based in Europe, the USA, and Canada.
The statement further mentioned that Sharanjeet received a shipment of four grenades from another accused, who was arrested on March 1 in Batala, Gurdaspur. Just two days prior to the attack, he handed over one grenade each to Gursidik and Vishal.
The NIA noted that Sharanjeet had fled from Batala about a month ago following a search operation by the agency but was eventually captured in Gaya.
